Call for Artists

Artusiasm is proud to host an open themed art exhibition Expressions, at the Art Space Connect Gallery at Neilson Park Creative Centre in the West end of Toronto. We invite artists of all backgrounds, styles, and mediums to submit their work.

 

Theme Description: 

This exhibition celebrates the diversity of artistic expression, embracing a wide range of interpretations— from the realistic to the abstract, and everything in between. From quiet moments of reflection to powerful statements, each piece offers a unique glimpse into the artist’s world. This is a celebration of individuality, where each artist’s voice resonates, revealing insights, stories, and visions that transcend words. Here, art becomes the language of the soul.

Rules

Please make sure you read the rules carefully before you apply.

Guidelines for Artwork:

  • Medium: We welcome all forms of visual art, including but not limited to paintings, drawings, mixed media, photography, prints and sculptures. The gallery provides display stands and Plexiglas covers for sculptural work.

  • Preparation:

    • All 2D artwork must be properly wired according to weight. 

    • All artwork must be completely dry at the time of drop off.

    • Flat panels/boards/paper must be framed. Stretched canvas 3/4" or deeper do not require a frame. 

    • 3D works must not exceed 25lbs weight. 

  • Content: Artwork must be appropriate for an audience of all ages. The gallery reserves the right to refuse any artwork that deems to be offensive or inappropriate for their centre. Tasteful nudes are acceptable.

​Steps to Participate:

  1. Fill out the Application Form (click the red button below). 

    • You may submit from 1 to 3 pieces in total.

    • Rename each jpeg image in this format: ARTIST NAME_ARTWORK TITLE.

  2. Wait for an acceptance email from Tanzina Amin.

    • Email will have all details including payment info, artwork preparation, drop off, pick up and reception. ​

  3. If accepted:

    • Send payment via etransfer.

    • Drop off your artwork on the drop off date. Late drop offs will not be included in the exhibition.

    • Attend the opening reception.

    • ​Pick up unsold artwork on time (the gallery charges $15 storage fee per day for delayed pick up).

​

​Participation Fee:

For each 2-dimensional piece (anything to be hung on a wall), Participation Fees vary by the finished width (regardless of height), which includes any frames.

​

Up to 16 inches wide: $20 per artwork

17- 24 inches wide: $25 per artwork

25-36 inches wide: $40 per artwork

 

Flat fee for sculptures (to be displayed on a pedestal): $20 per artwork

Catalogue: Add $10 catalogue fee (per artist) if you wish to have your profile and artwork featured in the catalogue (see details below). 

​

Catalogue:

Depending on interest, we will print limited copies of an exhibition catalogue (8.5"x5.5").

  • The catalogue will have a list of ALL participating artists (artist names).

  • One printed version will be available at the gallery throughout the exhibition for gallery visitors to view.

  • A free online flip book will be shared with all gallery visitors via a QR code, and also shared widely via social media and email. 

  • All artists will receive a link to share the virtual flip book with their own network.

  • Only Featured Artists ($10 catalogue fee) will have a one-page profile in the catalogue. See details below.

 

Included in the $10 catalogue fee for Featured Artists:

  • A full page artist profile including their profile picture, a short bio and images of exhibiting artwork.

  • One free printed copy of the catalogue.

  • Email us by November 17 if you would like to order additional copies.

 

Please Note: the $10 only covers the cost of printing the catalogue, it does not include design fees. We are trying our best to keep this as affordable as possible.

​Key Dates and Location:

Exhibition: November 26 to December 15, 2024

Application Deadline: November 9, 2024 at 6pm

Acceptance: November 15, 2024

Art Drop Off: November 24, 1-4pm

Art Pick Up: December 15, 1-4pm

Opening Reception: November 29, 2024, 7-9pm

 

Location: Art Space Connect Gallery,  Neilson Park Creative Centre, 56 Neilson Dr, Toronto, ON

This is a bright and spacious art gallery with a 20 foot ceiling and over 160 running feet of wall space. The centre is open 7 days a week, and gets a lot of foot traffic year long through various programs and activities.

 

Sales and Commission:

  • Neilson Park Creative Centre (NPCC) handles all sales and will contact the artists directly regarding any sales, and will arrange payment to artists, less 15% gallery commission.

  • HST is applicable to all sales. HST will be remitted to artists on submission of their HST registration number; otherwise HST will be reported and remitted by NPCC.

Publicity/Media Consent: 

By submitting the application form, the artist gives permission to any photography and video/audio recording related to this exhibition, and to any publication/posts on social media or other public platforms or printed media, now or in the future. This includes marketing and promotional materials.

If you are a visual artist, this is a fantastic opportunity to share your work in a beautiful art gallery and connect with local art enthusiasts. Please note that space is limited. Submissions will be reviewed by the curators, who will select a range of works to create a cohesive and impactful showcase. We look forward to seeing how you express yourself through your art!
